Intellectual Property

The intellectual property in the materials contained in this website are owned by or licensed to OurTuition and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. We grant our users permission to download one copy of the materials for personal, non-commercial transitory use.

This constitutes the grant of a licence, not a transfer of title. This licence shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions or the Terms of Service, and may be terminated by OurTuition at any time.

User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of your intellectual property rights in any content you submit, post, upload, share, or otherwise transmit to our website. This encompasses a range of materials including, but not limited to, educational content, comments, and feedback. While we claim no ownership over your content, we require from you a licence to use it in line with our services.

When you provide content covered by intellectual property rights, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide licence. This licence allows us to use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly display, translate, and create derivative works from your content, respecting your privacy preferences and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The content you share, especially as part of the tutoring process, is integral to the functionality of our platform.

The licence you grant us for your content can be terminated by you at any time through the deletion of your content or account. However, in instances where your content has been used by us or our partners in commercial, promotional, or sponsored content, the licence will persist until the relevant content is no longer in use.

By sharing content on our platform, you also permit us to use your username and other identifying information associated with your account in a way that aligns with your privacy settings and our Privacy Policy. This is vital for fostering community interactions and trust, particularly in tutor-student relationships and peer discussions.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the content you share complies with applicable laws and regulations and does not infringe on the rights of others. We expect all users to refrain from posting misleading, offensive, or inappropriate material. We reserve the right to monitor and review user-generated content and may remove or modify content that we find to be in violation of our policies or standards without prior notice. This is to maintain a respectful and safe environment for all users of our platform.

Becoming a Tutor

Aspiring tutors interested in collaborating with OurTuition are invited to apply by submitting their credentials and background information to admin@ourtuition.co.uk. The selection process involves an assessment of each candidate’s qualifications and aptitude for tutoring. Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of OurTuition, and are responsible for setting their own hourly rates (subject to a minimum charge) and for the preparation and delivery of their tutoring sessions. OurTuition provides a platform for tutors to connect with potential students but does not guarantee a specific volume of work or earnings. Tutors are expected to comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including those pertaining to self-employment and taxation in the UK.

Registration and Payments

To access and utilise the services of OurTuition, users are required to create an account on our platform. It is imperative that the information provided during registration is accurate, current, and updated as necessary. Users bear full responsibility for maintaining the security of their account information, including login credentials. All activities occurring under a user’s account fall under their responsibility. In cases of unauthorised access or security breaches, users must immediately notify OurTuition. We emphasise that OurTuition is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from a user’s failure to maintain account confidentiality.

When engaging with OurTuition’s services, users will need to provide financial information relevant to their selected payment method. This often involves submitting credit card details for transactions. OurTuition employs the services of Stripe, Google Payments, or Apple Pay for all payment processing. This means that the handling and retention of your financial information are managed by these payment processors, in accordance with their respective Terms of Service. Users are thus agreeing to abide by these terms when choosing to transact through these services. It is crucial to understand that while OurTuition ensures the use of secure and reputable payment processing partners, it is not responsible for any issues that may arise from the use of these external payment services.

For tutors using the OurTuition platform, the process of receiving payments for their services is facilitated through these same payment processors. Tutors are responsible for setting their rates in alignment with the guidelines provided by OurTuition and must comply with the agreed terms of payment processing. Users should be aware that their adherence to the policies of the selected payment processors, including those related to payment disputes, refunds, and chargebacks, is a mandatory aspect of utilising OurTuition’s services.

Cancellations and Refund Policy

At OurTuition, we understand that plans can change, and we have therefore established a clear policy for booking cancellations and refunds. This policy is designed to protect both the interests of our customers and the commitments of our tutors.

Customers are entitled to cancel their tutoring sessions, and the conditions for refunds depend on the timing of the cancellation. If a customer cancels their booking more than 72 hours before the scheduled start of the session, they will receive a refund, minus a service fee of 5.5%. This fee covers administrative costs and is non-refundable. It is important for customers to note that this time frame is strictly adhered to, ensuring fairness for both parties.

In instances where a cancellation is made within 72 hours of the scheduled session, the customer will not be eligible for a refund. This policy is in place to respect the tutor’s time and schedule, which may have been significantly altered to accommodate the booking.

Should a tutor need to cancel a confirmed booking, the customer will receive a full refund of the amount paid, excluding the service fee. OurTuition is committed to providing a reliable tutoring service, and in the rare event of a tutor cancellation, we take steps to minimise any inconvenience to our customers.

Refunds will be processed through the original payment method used at the time of booking. The duration for the refund to appear in the customer’s account may vary, depending on the policies of the bank or card issuer involved.

OurTuition reserves the right to make exceptions to this policy in certain extenuating circumstances, such as emergencies or service delivery failures. Customers facing such situations are encouraged to contact OurTuition’s support team at support@ourtuition.co.uk to discuss potential remedies.
